Introductory activities | Discussion of the required background for the program of the course. A detailed explanation of the organization and content of the program and the system of evaluation which will be used. |
Lecture | Teacher's presentation of the origin and development of the written literary traditions of Africa, the Caribbean, and India. Presentation of the importance of orality in these literatures. |
Seminars | Groups are formed to defend different points of view. Step 1: Selection and reading of a literary excerpt or poem. Step 2: Aesthetic appreciation of the form and content. Step 3: Argumentation to defend individual points of view. |
Presentations / expositions | Oral presentation of topics taken from one of the three novels chosen for the course. |
Assignments | Each student puts into practice his or her ability to write a critical appreciation of each one of the three novels chosen for the course. Each student writes a proposal for a research paper following the model provided by the teacher. |
