General description and relevant information |
In this subject, social inequalities in health are analyzed, which are the differences in health between population groups, which are considered important, systematic, avoidable and unfair. The causes of these social inequalities in health are also addressed, understanding that they are in the social structures as well as in the impact that political, economic and legal institutions have on the different social groups. Throughout the subject it is stated that social inequalities in health are not synonymous with "health inequalities" and the different public policies aimed at reducing such inequalities are addressed. In a central way, the axes of inequality are studied as well as the actors that play an institutional role in the production and reproduction of said inequalities. |
