One-day instrumental exercises We keep on working on specific instrumental features of the architectural and urban planning design processes. Theory of Urbanism The Typical Urban Processes, their transitions and overlays: Organic Urbanism, Oligarchic Urbanism and Delegated Urbanism. Exercise 1 A Simulation of Organic Urbanism Physical recognition of the site Analysis as a diagnosis with a propositional load (what’s happening? what to do? and how?). Performing physical and 3D model of the site. Occupation: distribution and negotiation of individual and group plots within the site. Ex. 1.1 Iterative organic process in a high density context. On the model and on the Nolli floor plan. Ex. 1.2 Individual design of 2-3 patio-houses Ex. 1.3 Complementary individual design of a mixed-use building Ex. 1.4 City and Neighborhood: overlay systems: participatory design of private, community and public spaces. Site character Development of composition themes: the Picturesque and the Monumental. |
