  Descripció
Activitats Introductòries The introductory sessions will offer an overview of the coursework and will illustrate the methodology and difficulties involved in studying the early period of literature in English.
Seminaris The seminars will be based on the reading and understanding of texts. It is important that you prepare the texts before they are discussed in class. The seminar will give you the opportunity to raise questions, iron out difficulties and learn.
Presentacions / exposicions Students may be expected to discuss their written work in individual or small group tutorials.
Treballs You will be given a total of 6 written assignments on different texts, through the course, three in each semester. Written work will be structured along lines indicated by the tutor, and ranging from answering reading comprehension question, to a more open critical essay format.
Sessió Magistral The lecture-based classes will focus on close readings and a study of the mechanisms used in the construction of "English" literature.
This will constitute the main theoretical input of the course, together with recommended readings, which will be tested 6 times throughout the course, each test corresponding to a part of the course.

Altres

There will be 6 CA tests during the course, 3 in each semester. An overall score of 45% of the course grade will be derived from the average these tests. Altres comentaris i segona convocatòria

In the CA Tests, students must achieve at least a '3.0' (out of 10) in each test in order to pass the course on the basis of CA. In other words, a student who has less than a '3.0' in one of the CA tests will be obliged to take the complete Final Exam.

Students must average a 5 or over for the CA work of each semester in order to pass the course on the basis of CA. While the course mark from CA will be taken as an average of the two halves of the course, each half of the course must be passed separately for that overall average to be applicable. Where one part of the course is failed, the student must take the Final Exam.

If you do not attend classes regularly and consequently do not complete the Continuous Assessment programme satisfactorily, you will have to take the final exam. The final exam will consist of text commentaries, based on the set texts of the course 50%, and short questions to test your background knowledge of English literary history and the theory related to studies in this field 50%.

In cases of results which are borderline, regular attendance (80%+) may be taken into consideration, at the tutors discretion.
