General description and relevant information

This course will provide an overall review of American literature from the beginnings to the present. In order to do so a selection of voices and traditions will be considered in an attempt to familiarize students with the major authors and trends of the literature of the United States from the Colonial Period to the present time.

Aquesta assignatura combina la presencialitat i la virtualitat en un percentatge encara per determinar. En començar el curs, el calendari amb totes les activitats docents previstes (amb horaris i espais) estarà disponible al campus virtual (Moodle) de l'assignatura.

Activitats Introductòries Students will be introduced to the particular ideosincratic nature of American literature at the beginning of the course.
Seminaris Students will be exposed to an array of texts and authors so that they become familiar with the most important voices in American literature.
Atenció personalitzada Students are welcome to use my visiting hours to come individually or in groups and discuss any relevant aspects of the course.

Description
Students are encouraged to stop by the instructor´s office. They should always feel free to ask questions about the topics discussed in class.

Donada la situació d'emergència sanitària, durant el curs 2020-2021 s'atendrà els estudiants en tutoria individualitzada i/o grupal per tal de resoldre possibles dubtes, consultes i altres qüestions relacionades amb l'assignatura. La tutoria podrà ser presencial i/o virtual. A principis de curs s'informarà a l'estudiant sobre com es portarà a terme aquesta atenció personalitzada (horaris, si serà presencial, per correu electrònic, Moodle,...)

 Students will take two tests of this sort where they will have to recognize either works, authors or both. 35% each (35*2=70%)

Students who do not pass the subject will have a second chance at the "Segona convocatòria". The length, nature and contents of that test will be announced at the beginning of the course.

Aquesta guia docent és orientativa. Students are encouraged to come to class with their readings done. Regular class attendance is a requirement and class participation is highly recommended.
