Objectius Competències
To offer a critical survey of research on the acquisition of English as a second and foreign language and how these findings can be applied to classroom language teaching. At the end of the course students should have acquired: - a scientific perspective on what learning an additional language entails - the relevant skills to analyse the output produced by second language learners - and knowledge and skills in order to have an informed critical opinion on issues related to language learning and language planning

Activitats Introductòries Definition and key issues in Second Language Acquisition.
PBL (Problem Based Learning) / (ABP) Aprenentatge basat en problemes Students will have to read and prepare in avance the different readings that will serve as the text for the course. Most of these readings are journal articles or book chapters on the specific topics. These articles and chapters will then be explained in class.
Resolució de problemes, exercicis a l'aula ordinària Students will have to do some activities based on the different topics studied in class.

Throughout the course, the student will have to fulfill several tasks. Therefore, the teacher expects the students to send all their questions, doubts, comments, etc on the activities by e-mail, or by visiting the teacher in her office.

If your overall grade is 50% then you pass the course.
If you miss or fail one of the exercises, but your final grade adds up to 50% (worksheets+final essay), you will NOT have to do a final exam (segona convocatòria).
