Descripció general i informació rellevant The aim of this course is to provide students with a general view of the main developments and characteristics of literature in Ireland and to make them aware of the major debates in the study of Irish literature. The course also aims to encourage students to read lrish literary texts in an independent way, through their knowledge of theoretical frameworks.

This course will be conducted in English. All bibliography and literature for this course is in English; students wanting to enrole should have a good command of English. Students will be asked to read critical essays alongside literay texts included in the course anthology.

Metodologia docent
Lectures: theoretical sessions delivered by the teacher ofr by guest speakers. Seminar sessions: students will be expected to work on topics related to specific themes, according to a schedule stablished at the beginning of the course. Students will be expected to come to independent conclusions about the material they read and be able to critically deploy the theories covered in reading literay texts. Audiovisual materials (film, internet resources) will be used in practical sessions.

Metodologia avaluació
There will be an end of term examination and a written essay on a topic to be agreed to with the teacher. Course marks may also be awarded for assignments done during the course. Class attendance and participation in practicsal sessions are essential course requierements.
