| Activitats Introductòries |
Preliminary concepts and readings will be given to present the basic literary constituents that conform a piece of fiction. These lectures will be followed by class discussions. |
| Seminaris |
The seminars will be based on the analysis of all the texts. Active participation of the student is expected. |
| Presentacions / exposicions |
Part of the evaluation process is based on individual oral presentations. The class will be divided into different groups and each group, and each student, will have to introduce different issues relating to the social-historical context that accompanies each literary extract and short story. A general discussion will follow. |

Students are welcome to contact me in office hours or by email for personal consultation. I especially ask those students who have serious problems in attending classes regularly to contact me at the beginning of the course. |

Els exàmens es realitzaran de forma presencial. A causa de l'emergència sanitària, en cas de confinament o de restriccions en la mobilitat, les activitats avaluatives, inclosos els exàmens, es farien online en les dates previstes. En l'espai Moodle de cada assignatura hi podreu consultar la informació actualitzada. Les activitats avaluatives seran previstes per poder realitzar-se en modalitat mixta o online en cas de confinament. Si l'evolució de la situació sanitària requereix reduir la presencialitat, s'adaptarà l'avaluació perquè es pugui dur a terme d'acord amb les directrius que estableixin els organismes pertinents. Qualsevol modificació s'informarà mitjançant el fòrum de notícies del Campus Virtual (Moodle). |

It is very important that you have a copy of the textbook Ways of Reading (4th Edition!). *Ways of Reading(Fourth Edition). You will need it, not only for Anàlisi de Textos I but also for Anàlisi de Textos II, both of which are compulsory subjects in Semesters One and Two. In the first semester, we shall be studying the main points in Sections 1-3, although we shall also be looking at other theories which are important for this module. *Moodle Many of the classes will be given as seminars, some as lectures. Power Point presentations on various topics will be uploaded on Moodle, also website addresses where you can access interesting and relevant information.

It is very important that you read in English and listen to films in English. The URV stock many books in English, not only in the English Studies section but also in other disciplines, such as Anthropology, Media Studies, History and so on. |
