Descripció general i informació rellevant This course will provide an overall review of American litarature from the beginnings to the present. In order to do so a selection of voices and traditions will be considered in an attempt to familiarize students with the major authors and trends of the literature of the United States.

Metodologies
  Descripció
Activitats Introductòries Students will be introduced to the particular ideosincratic nature of American literature at the beginning of the course.
Seminaris Students will be exposed to an array of texts and authors so that they become familiar with the most important voices in American literature.
Atenció personalitzada Students are welcome to use my visiting hours to come individually or in groups and discuss any relevant aspects of the course.

Students are encouraged to stop by the instructor´s office. They should always feel free to ask questions about the topics discussed in class.

 Students will write an in-class essay on one novel they will have read on their own. 30%

 Students will take two tests of this sort where they will have to recognize either works, authors or both. 35% each (35*2=70%)

Students who do not pass the subject will have a second chance at the "Segona convocatòria". The length, nature and contents of that test will be announced at the beginning of the course.

Students are encouraged to come to class with their readings done. Regular class attendance is a requirement and class participation is highly recommended.
