General description and relevant information The work experience module aims to complete the individual training of the student, in theoretical and practical contents as well as in the personal and professional growth. This practical formation allow the student to assimilate and apply the learning achieve during his/her academical formation. It also allows getting to know institutions and centres linked to the area of the study of the student and to acquire work experience.

Selection technique and assignment
Procedures

CONSULT THE RULES OF THE MODULE “WORK EXPERIENCE” AT THE FACULTY OF Chemistry

It is desirable that the student himself look for the place to develop External Internships,

mainly because this way the student can choose the working environment, the location of the

institution, the period for the activity... However, if the student wants, the faculty will look for

a company or institution for the realization of the internship, within the period set for the

completion of the internship.

At the meeting in the beginning of the course (September) students will manifest their

choices and an academic tutor will be assigned. In the cases of students wishing the centre

look for them the place for the internship realization, the allocation will be made in February,

at a public meeting, the choose will be made by the transcripts, although some singularities

are valued such as the proximity of housing... The student cannot refuse the assignment made

at this meeting.

In all cases, once the contact is established between the student and the company or

institution, or the allocation made by the school, students have to complete and sign a

document for accepting the commitments, which shall include the name of the tutor of the

collaborating institution, the student's name, the name of the collaborating entity where the

external practices will be made, and the training project. Also, the specific skills done during

the work will be included.

Coordination and monitoring mechanisms
Es durà a terme una coordinació interna (per part de la universitat) i una coordinació externa (per part del centre de pràctiques).
Description

The academic tutors would be full-time lecturers of the departments of Analytical Chemistry

and Organic Chemistry, Physics and Inorganic Chemistry and Biochemistry and Biotechnology

of the faculty.

The tutors’ function of the module Work Experience are:

* To ensure the proper development of the training project and guarantee the

compatibility of schedule for the completion of the internship.

* Monitoring the student development during the practices and complete the

corresponding follow-up report.

* Evaluate the final report of the stay of the student.

* Inform the coordinator of internships on possible incidents and / or breaches of the

student or the collaborating institutions.

The external tutor will be designated by the collaborating entity and then communicated to

the coordinator of the Work Experience module.

The functions of the external tutor will be:

* Welcoming the students and organize the activity to develop in accordance with

what it was established in the Training Project.

* Guide and supervise, in coordination with the academic tutor, the tasks to be

developed by the student.

* Inform the coordinator of the module of any incidences.

* Assess the student activities completing a final report that has to be sent to the

academic supervisor.

Evaluation criteria and procedures
Es durà a terme una avaluació interna (per part de la universitat), una valoració externa (per part del centre de pràctiques) i una autovaloració (per part de l’estudiant).
