General description and relevant information <p>This course is a short introduction to global political economy.</p><p>The main topics covered are:</p><p>(i) the hierarchical geoeconomic structure;</p><p>(ii) global finance dominance;</p><p>(iii) economic integration processes; and</p><p>(iv) the plausible futures of the world economy.</p><p>Some simple mathematical models are also presented.</p>

Methodologies
  Description
Introductory activities Presentation of the contents of the course and its evaluation.
Lecture The topics to be covered will be presented in class. The students should have read and prepared the readings recommended by the instructor beforehand.
Presentations / oral communications The students will present previously assigned articles or research topics.
Problem solving, exercises in the classroom Exercises will be solved in class. Students should work independently.
Debates Debates will be organized based on the reading material that students will read and prepare beforehand,
Personal attention Students will be able to meet with the instructor during the office hours. Office hours will be communicated to students on the first day of class.

Evaluation in the second call will be based on an essay on five of the books from the list given at the start of the course (maximum mark 6) or on the taking of an exam, similar to those taken during the course (maximum mark 10).
