General description and relevant information Conèixer i analitzar els diferents tipus de materials, les seves utilitats i les seves propietats. Proporcionar el criteri i els coneixements per a poder seleccionar el material òptim en funció de l’aplicació final. Relacionar les propietats amb l’estructura microscòpica dels materials. Identificar i comprendre les característiques de les estructures cristal•lines. Fer representacions de les estructures cristal•lines bàsiques de materials comuns (metalls, ceràmics, polímers, semiconductors). Conèixer les tècniques de caracterització. Tipus de defectes i càlcul de la velocitat de formació de les estructures cristal•lines. Diagrama de fases. Determinar propietats mecàniques dels materials.
