General description and relevant information Development of an Innovative Project of Environmental Engineering, Energy and Sustainability, understood as a technical work of the type that an engineer can perform in the exercise of his profession. These technical works may focus on the design, calculation, assembly, operation and maintenance of technologies for the treatment of gaseous, aqueous effluents, soil remediation, wastes; environmental management; Environmental and energy audit; application of tools to improve the sustainability of processes; integration and energy saving; application of renewable energies; cleaner production, or any of the issues related to Environmental and Energy Engineering; or conducting a research project on any of these areas. The work will have the structure of a professional project and will deal with any of the subjects studied in the master's degree. The objective is to synthesize and integrate the competences acquired in the master. OBSERVATIONS: There will be only one exam session for this subject. There will be no opportunity for students to retake the exam in a subsequent exam session.

A2.2 Analyse the energy installations and apply the latest and most innovative strategies for energy saving and performance enhancement.
A2.3 Manage complex technical or professional projects that may require knowledge from outside the discipline.
A3.1 Execution, presentation and defence before a university examination panel of an individually undertaken original project in the field of Environmental, Energy and Sustainable Engineering. The project should be a technical assignment reflecting the type of tasks carried out by a professional engineer or a research project in any of the aforementioned fields that synthesizes and applies the competencies acquired during the master's degree.
Type B Code Competences Transversal
B1.1 Communicate complex ideas effectively to all sorts of audiences.
B4.1 Be able to learn autonomously in order to maintain and improve the personal competencies relating to continuous improvement acquired during the course.
B4.2 Develop abilities to manage their professional career.
B5.1 Develop sufficient autonomy to work in scientific, technological or cultural research projects and collaborations in the discipline
B5.2 Solve complex problems critically, creatively and innovatively in multidisciplinary contexts.
B5.3 Apply new technologies and advances with initiative and entrepreneurial spirit and manage and use information in an efficient manner.
B6.1 Apply ethical principles and social responsibility as a citizen and a professional.
Type C Code Competences Nuclear

Learning outcomes
Type A Code Learning outcomes
A1.1 Combine knowledge of environmental and energy engineering with direct experience whilst undertaking an original technical project.

A2.2 Propose innovative energy solutions for real applications.
A2.3 Adequately develop a full range of specific, transversal and core competences for a comprehensive scientific project.
Develop the ability to solve probelms that are unfamiliar, ill-defined and require specific competences. Consider the best and most innovative solutions, select the most appropriate and make adjustments once it has been implemented whilst evaluating the different design solutions.
A3.1 Execute, present and defend individually an original project in the fields of Environmental, Energy and Sustainable Engineering
Type B Code Learning outcomes
B1.1 Intervene effectively and transmit relevant information.
Plan the communication of information: generate ideas, seek information, select and order information, make diagrams, identify the type of audience and the objectives of the communication.
Write documents with the correct format, content, structure and language, and illustrate concepts using the correct conventions such as formats, titles, footnotes, legends, etc.
Use language that is appropriate to the situation.
Give well prepared presentations using strategies for effective oral presentation (audiovisual support, body language, voice, gestures, time control, etc.).
Produce a written text appropriate to the communicative situation.
Given an oral presentation appropriate to the communicative situation.
Prepare and perform structured presentations in compliance with the required requirements.
Locate and analyse information effectively and efficiently.
Critically evaluate information and its sources and incorporate it into personal knowledge.
Understand the economic, legal, social and ethic implications of accessing and using information.
Reflect on, review and evaluate the information management process.
B4.1 Autonomously adopt strategies for learning in each situation.
Establish personal learning objectives.
B4.2 Agree the tasks and obligations of professional work experience with internal and external tutors.
Complete the acquistion of the course's competences in a real professional settting.
Agree the master's thesis theme with internal and external tutors.
B5.1 Use planning techniques to decide how to manage and organise work and time needed to complete a task.
Analyse personal limitations and possibilities when carrying out a specific task.
Reflect on personal learning process and needs.
B5.2 Collate the information needed to solve problems on the basis of objective criteria.
Present alternative solutions to a problem and evaluate the possible risks and advantages.
Create a strategy for solving a problem.
Develop an analytical, creative and critical spirit when assessing real-life professional situations.
B5.3 Propose the application of cutting-edge technologies in the professional environment.
Draw up an action plan containing all of the internal and external elements needed to create a company.
B6.1 Take into account the principles of ethical and socially responsible engineering in the execution of professional duty.

Selection technique and assignment
Procedures

The coordinator publishes a list of available final master projects for which students can apply by following an established procedure known by the master students. Students can also propose their own final master project to be developed in a company by a formal request. This request must be directed to the coordinator of the final master projects and must include a short description of the project and its scope as well as the name and contact info of the external project tutor. The adequacy of the project proposed will be evaluated by the coordinator.
