General description and relevant information
This course introduces the student into the new literatures written in English in countries such as Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. In this way the students progress in their knowledge of the different literatures written in English. Lectures and powerpoint presentations introduce the characteristics of each ne of these literatures, the most important authors, and the most relevant works. Likewise the main literary trends and postcolonial theories are studied. Finally, characteristics which are shared by these literatures are pointed out and discussed. Three novels are chosen each year from the reading list and analysed in depth by the students who also prepare oral presentations on relevant aspects of the novels. The last third of each of these sections is devoted to general discussion.
