General description and relevant information The aim of this subject is to give a detailed and actual description about gas chromatography and mass spectrometry in the field of analytical chemistry. First, fundamentals of gas chromatography are described and then the instrumentals aspects are described in detailed. About mass spectrometry, ionization types are described deeply. Also actual detectors are discussed. Then, instrumental coupling are described, especially gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (interfases, modes of use, qualitative and quantitative considerations). Finally, GCxGC is described.
