The online Moodle exercises on copy editing and style editing are designed to enable students to practise and consolidate the concepts outlined in detail in the course dossier and discussed in the group sessions. | 50% | ||||||

The copy editing/translation and style editing/translation assignments are designed to evaluate how far students have managed to assimilate the concepts taught and to what extent they are able to incorporate them into translations into English. The self-revision translation assignment is designed to evaluate to what extent students are able to incorporate the concepts taught into their own translations into English. |

atudents registered at the URV follow the ECTS system and have the right to the examination sessions outlined in the current academic regulations governing undergraduate and Master's degree courses. Assessment for this course will be as follows. Online mode First call: Online Moodle consolidation exercises on copy editing 20% Online Moodle consolidation exercises on style editing 20% 1 quiz on copy editing 5% 1 quiz on style editing 5% Online Moodle assignment on copy editing/translating 20% Online Moodle assignments on style editing/translating 20% 1 self-revision translation assignment 10% Second call: Students will complete the translation of a text from Spanish into English. In addition to producing an accurate and complete translation, they will need to focus on achieving clarity and concision, particularly if the source text is neither clear nor concise. To do so they will need to bear in mind the stylistic transposition techniques we have discussed in class and provide examples of where they have used them. They must also bear in mind the copy editing rules we have analysed in class. |
