Welcome

The School of Architecture of the Universitat Rovira i Virgili is a center created in 2005, located on the Bellissens Campus of the city of Reus.

The Universitat Rovira i Virgili was created in 1991 from the existing university centers in the counties of the Camp de Tarragona and the Terres de l'Ebre. The University adopts the name of the illustrious writer, historian and politician Antoni Rovira i Virgili, who served as the president of the Parliament of Catalonia. The School of Architecture is part of a group of twelve university centers, from where more than forty lessons are taught in the areas of health sciences, social sciences, humanities, technology, experimental sciences and architecture.

The creation of the School of Architecture of Reus has opened the possibility of carrying architectural studies, from different starting points to students from the areas of the South of Catalonia, who have this option as a priority . The current capacity of the school is designed for 60 new students yearly. In order to provide the center with an efficient academic organization for the fulfillment of its educational and research objectives, it is organized in a single department, currently the Predepartmental Unit of Architecture. The center is governed by the School Board, consisting of elected members of the teaching and research staff, the administration and services staff and the students.

The School opened its new building for the 2011/2012 academic year. In order to construct the building of the School of Architecture, the Universitat Rovira i Virgili convened an ideas competition in two phases of which the winner was the team formed by Bardaji - Teixidor, Associated Architects, jointly with the architect Franc Fernández and other collaborators. The building provides a total constructed area of ??7,261 square meters, which highlights the important allocation of space in the graphic classrooms as a personalized work place for students. Students have graphic classrooms for drawing subjects, projects and descriptive geometry, theory and computer science, the latter equipped with specific programs for mathematics, physics, descriptive geometry and second-course subjects. The direction of the school is located on the second floor, and the secretary on the ground floor. In addition, students have diverse services common to all centers allocated at the Bellissens Campus and which are currently located in the building of the Faculty of Economics: the CRAI (Resource Center for Learning and the Research, with a basic set of architectural books, specialized journals and various resources available to students; the reprography service; and the cafeteria-restaurant. Architecture students can also access the funds of the library of the Architects Association of Tarragona.
